Red. Plaid. Moody florals.

Autumn is finally here, so today, we bring to you a look book featuring the hottest Autumn trends, straight from the runways of Paris and New York. Our special twist, however, is that these ensembles don’t require you to purchase an entirely new wardrobe.

As a budding photographer I (Simran) wanted to highlight Sydney’s raw urban vibe. Sydney doesn’t possess the same constant motion like New York or London do. Our street vibe is more relaxed. There is a real air of stylishly owning the boardwalk or footpath, strutting down George Street with a long black in your hand. It’s urban chic blanketed by romanticised relaxation. Even on a Monday morning, Sydney city pulses with an aura that encourages us to groove to work, rather than push and shove as we run to catch a train or bus.

With this in mind, I wanted to capture organic photos in the heart of Sydney. Two different locations were selected for this lookbook – Martin Place and Barangaroo. Being the old town heart of Sydney, Martin Place is a walk through history, with stunning sandstone buildings and architectural marvels. In complete antithesis, Barangaroo is minimalist, effortless and cool. The organic fusion between modern simplicity, metal and nature makes Barangaroo unique. Beyond the modern glass structures, we still find solace in the harbour, lapping at the shores of our business district.

This lookbook is an amalgamation of what Salonee and I stand for – being independent, power woman making our marks in the history books. These looks are feminine, sassy, eye-catching and most importantly, wearable. I couldn’t have chosen better locations to curate such an enigmatic collection with my sister.

This collection was styled by Salonee Goyal and curated by Simran Goyal

Incorporated trends: Polka Dots | Sheer | Belt | Embellished Shoes

This look embodies casual, chic style. It’s perfect for casual Fridays in a corporate environment or for any day event. Polka dots are elevated by the sheer material, taking this conventionally girly print to a classier, mature level.

Incorporated trends: Red | Blue on Black

Every boss lady needs an outfit that works for both corporate and evening occasions. Red is the perfect colour to accomplish this. By combining a bold, sophisticated, red blouse with a blue pencil skirt, and tying the look together with a black waist belt, you’ll be on point all day at any occasion. And of course, there’s nothing like a classic pair of black stilettos to add drama and highlight the true feminine power of a boss lady.

Incorporated trends: Winter Florals | Midi Skirts | Belts | Mixed prints

For those cooler autumn days, why not incorporate dark, moody florals into your look? This look is perfect for casual, corporate settings and day events. It’s a timeless look because of the structured midi skirt – a perfect addition to any wardrobe. Finish the look with a textured statement belt that works on the same colour scheme as your bag and shoes. This will  really add glamour to an otherwise comfortable and timeless Autumn look.

Incorporated trends: Neutral Tones (camel, sheepskin) | Midi Skirts | Belts

Neutral tones. Is there anything more elegant for a corporate setting? Capitalise on how in demand neutrals are this season by layering them together in one look. Taking neutrals in different shades and accompanying them with garments of varying textures is one of the simplest ways to throw together a sleek ensemble.

incorporate trends: power suit | plastic/PVC| Nlue on black | red | fringes

All boss ladies NEED a power suit this season. Designers featured bold, monochromatic ensembles, particularly in red and navy blue. But to make power suits wearable for everyday whilst still incorporating trends like fringing and red, feature the bolder elements as your accessories. This look is commanding, with the striped white blazer, contrasting black trousers and PVC white pumps. The red tote elevates the look even further, with a charming little fringe detail to add a flirty bit of fun to a strong, no-nonsense ensemble.

incorporated trends: Baker boy caps | plaid | neutrals | belts

Here’s an ensemble that takes a fun spin on the whole corporate, power woman aura the runways gave us this season. This look is comfortable, chic and effortlessly conveys androgyny. Plaid doesn’t always have to be in a jacket or dress. Instead of going out and buying new trend pieces, borrow the plaid belt from your chic summer dress, and use it as a waist belt for your trousers instead. Furthermore, tie in a baker boy cap to give your look some street style dimension.

incorporated trends: pink |transitional summer dresses | neutrals | belts

Who says the onset of Autumn means we need to pack away our beloved summer florals? Take your summer dress into autumn by adding a statement belt to your dress, and finishing the look with a pair of autumn appropriate boots. The combination of pink with floral prints and pops of natural tones will smoothly transition you from summer to autumn, and of course, ensure you stand out!

incorporated trends: plaid | masculine tailoring | laced up boots

Day and night events don’t always need to be sober or chic in that feminine, traditional sense. Play on masculine traits by wearing well tailored blazers, especially if they have shoulder pads. Tie in grey and green, with a classic pair of skinny jeans, and create contrast by selecting a fitted, knit.

incorporated trends: folk/paisley prints | plaid | midi | fringing | circle bag

This look is an interesting fusion of sober textures, neutral tones and bold prints. Folk prints aren’t every woman’s niche, so the challenge in this look involved making such a different print wearable. With fashion, it is all about balance. To mute the boldness of the pattern on the dress, I have paired the garment with a long line cardigan. Embellishing your bag with a paisley silk scarf is perfect to heighten any ensemble, whether it is for corporate or evening events.

incorporated trends: galactic print | embellished shoes | metallics

No lookbook can be complete without an evening ensemble. This look goes beyond most comfort zones. It’s fun and different, and plays an interesting perspective on the galactic vibe Chanel featured on their runway. Galactic print doesn’t have to be literal stars and planets… it is an opportunity to dive a little deeper. The top, is actually a dress with an asymmetric hem tucked into a pair of split leg culottes. To add even more drama and brighten the look, I selected a pair of studded, metallic stilettos and shiny jewellery. My hair has been styled into a sleek top knot up-do with tight dutch braid detail at the back of the head to make it even more futuristic.
